Please read the rules, the FAQ, and search before posting. That's when it goes into the toaster oven for about another 30minutes at 200 deg. But, I can usually handle anything after 30 minutes. I've never let anything air dry completely, so I can't respond to the 6 hours time. ![]() Yeah, I saw the quoted time, was just wondering how accurate it may/may not be. IMPORTANT! The time begins when the part has reached temperature, NOT when it is placed in the Class A oven. If parts are to be air dried, allow at least 6 hours 77☏ ± 5☏ and ≤70% relative humidity before putting into service.Īfter a flash time of 30 minutes, 28A can be force cured according to the following schedule: Sandstrom 28A may be air dried or force cured. I bake parts after application in an old toaster oven. I also, have a couple of old spray cans of Perma-Slik G. Sandstrom-28a-solid-film-lubricant-quart-can-mil-prf-46147d Only, I found it on eBay a couple of years ago for way less than listed here. The only place it wouldn't wear off (if it weren't for my my pre-assembly cleaning routine) is externally on the mil-spec/Colt rifle buffer tubes. It really wouldn't hurt if I were to add that into my routine. Buy a can and give your parts a shot every once in a while, especially after a good cleaning. It wears and as you indicate, solvents will strip it away. If it was a lasting finish I would care more about it, but in my experience it's usually lost to my cleaning process in the prep for assembly anyways so it doesn't bother me when it's not there to begin with. If you're following mil-spec or Colt spec it's inside of the upper receivers, it's on cam pins, it's on the inside of carbine buffer tubes, it's on the outside and maybe the inside of rifle buffer tubes and some form of it is even sprayed on the outside of A2 stocks to make them look gray. Surprisingly I don't make dry film lube a requirement when I'm deciding on buying parts.
